The initiative is carried out by <em>Pequenas Empresas &amp; Grandes Neg\u00f3cios<\/em> (PEGN), <em>\u00c9poca Neg\u00f3cios<\/em>, and <em>Valor Econ\u00f4mico<\/em>, in partnership with EloGroup and Innovc.<\/p><p><strong>At the end of this article, you can find the full list of the 100 Startups to Watch in 2024.<\/strong><\/p><p>The primary goal of 100 STW is to identify companies that have moved beyond the uncertain business phase and are on an upward trajectory, with substantial increases in revenue and users, the use of innovative technologies, or significant investment funding. The aim is to stimulate the ecosystem, foster new connections, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the entrepreneurial network.<\/p><p>\u201cThis project gives visibility to startups and recognizes the hard work they do to \u2018get a company off the ground.\u2019 But more than that, the award helps attract investments,\u201d says Marina Belarmino, Senior Manager at EloGroup. \u201cWhen the 100 STW list is released, it\u2019s very common for <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/elogroup.com\/en\/insights\/cvc-2023-survey-progress-brazil\/\">large CVCs [Corporate Venture Capital]<\/a><\/span> to reach out to these startups to invest and accelerate their businesses.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f74def3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f74def3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Methodology<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-31da9f5f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"31da9f5f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This year, 1,979 companies were registered for the award. Of these, 1,050 had their applications validated and meticulously analyzed by a team of EloGroup experts, in collaboration with the STW Committee.<\/p><p>Throughout the startup selection process, the methodology includes nine stages:<\/p><ol><li><strong>Questionnaire and criteria development<\/strong>: refining the method and defining evaluation criteria and the application form;<\/li><li><strong>Form launch<\/strong>: opening the registration form for startups to participate in the selection;<\/li><li><strong>Mass dissemination and active search<\/strong>: posting promotional materials on social media, actively searching for startups, and sending emails to previous databases;<\/li><li><strong>Ambassador nomination<\/strong>: inviting startups that cannot be left out of the STW, as recommended by the award&#8217;s ambassadors;<\/li><li><strong>Multicriteria evaluation<\/strong>: each startup was evaluated in two phases, each by an EloGroup consultant;<\/li><li><strong>Finalizing the list of 200 finalist startups<\/strong>: since 2023, this group must include at least 100 companies where 50% or more of the ownership demonstrates diversity characteristics (racial, gender, sexual orientation, or people with disabilities);<\/li><li><strong>Judges&#8217; evaluation<\/strong>: the 200 startups are evaluated in two phases by two judges, with companies distributed among evaluators to avoid potential conflicts of interest;<\/li><li><strong>Jury meeting<\/strong>: the judges of the 100 STW endorse the list of the 100 startups with the highest scores;<\/li><li><strong>Award and announcement of the selection<\/strong>: the 100 Startups to Watch 2024 are announced on the platforms of PEGN, Valor Econ\u00f4mico, and \u00c9poca Neg\u00f3cios.<\/li><\/ol><p><br \/>The companies are assessed in five dimensions. In each, internal evaluators and external judges assign scores from 1 (less promising) to 5 (very promising). These dimensions are:<\/p><ul><li>Degree of Innovation;<\/li><li>Market Potential;<\/li><li>Business;<\/li><li>Team;<\/li><li>Solution Maturity.<\/li><\/ul><p><br \/>In practice, this means that if a company receives a score of 1 for market potential, its addressable market is considered very small with unfavorable trends. Similarly, a score of 3 for the team indicates that the group has relevant experience for the project, but still lacks some competencies. Finally, a score of 5 for solution maturity suggests that the startup is fully aligned with the requirements of its current stage, meeting or exceeding all expectations.<\/p><p>At the end of the evaluation, each startup receives a consolidated score, which is calculated by the arithmetic average of the scores assigned in the dimensions by the judges.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6dbb8029 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6dbb8029\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">100 STW 2024 <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-43faa34b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"43faa34b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In this year\u2019s 100 Startups to Watch list, <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/elogroup.com\/en\/insights\/business-without-diversity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">diversity<\/a><\/span> was a prominent topic across all evaluated criteria<\/strong>. In about 47% of the companies, more than half of their partners belong to social minorities (women, Black, mixed race, Asian, Indigenous, LGBTQIAPN+, and\/or people with disabilities). This figure rises to 58% when considering startups with at least one partner having diversity characteristics.<\/p><p>Similarly, the regional diversity of Brazil highlighted in the list of the most promising startups also saw positive changes. While the Southeast remains in first place with the most companies in the STW (71%), other regions saw a significant increase in representation. For example, in 2024, the North experienced a 150% increase in the number of startups winning the award.<\/p><p>The ranking of the 10 most representative sectors among the startups on the list are:<\/p><ul><li>Information Technology;<\/li><li>Health and Wellness;<\/li><li>Finance;<\/li><li>Agribusiness;<\/li><li>Environment;<\/li><li>Transport and Technology;<\/li><li>Energy;<\/li><li>Industry;<\/li><li>Education.<\/li><\/ul><p>Compared to last year\u2019s edition, the sectors of Agribusiness, Transport and Technology, Energy, and Industry saw an increase in representation.
